I am a maths tutor with over 20 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Kharazmi University. I specialise in SAT Math, IB, and GCSE, helping students move from anxiety to confidence with patient, structured teaching.
Through one-to-one sessions on Preply, group classes on Outschool, and my Green Lesson resource shop, I break complex ideas into clear, manageable steps with plenty of visual support.
I believe the right explanation at the right pace can completely change how a student feels about maths — and that confidence built in a lesson carries into exams.
"I genuinely love mathematics — and I have found that enthusiasm is contagious. When a student sees that I find this exciting, something shifts."
I teach in English and Persian (Farsi / فارسی) — sessions can run fully in Persian or bilingual if that is more comfortable.
Every session is a conversation, not a lecture. I draw, annotate, and work through problems live so you can follow each step as it happens — not just watch a finished solution.
I teach on an iPad with an Apple Pencil, so the whiteboard is always clean and readable. Diagrams, worked examples, and annotations are drawn in real time — no blurry camera pointing at a notepad.
Everything we cover gets saved and shared — notes, annotated diagrams, and worked examples. You leave each session with a file you can review at your own pace, not just a memory of what happened.
Private slots on Preply are currently full, but you can join the waitlist via my profile. Group classes on Outschool are open — a great way to get started while waiting for a private slot.
I specialise in SAT Math, GCSE, A Level (including Further Maths), and IB Mathematics. Topics include algebra, calculus, statistics, geometry, and exam technique.
Yes — sessions can run fully in Persian (Farsi), fully in English, or bilingual. Just let me know your preference when you get in touch.
Private lessons on Preply are one-to-one and move at your exact pace — ideal for targeted exam prep or catching up on specific topics. Group classes on Outschool are small-group sessions at a lower price point, great for building confidence alongside peers.
Sessions run online. I use an iPad and Apple Pencil as a live digital whiteboard — everything is drawn and annotated in real time so it is always clear and readable. After each session I share the notes and worked examples as a file you can keep.
Green Lesson is my shop of printable worksheet packs, visual mini-zines, and study guides. They are designed for independent practice between sessions — calm, clearly laid out, and focused on specific topics. Available at any time via the shop, no lesson booking required.
"Shaghayegh is a wonderful teacher. My daughter was always good at mathematics, but recently she had started developing a fear of the subject. Conceptually she was strong, but frequent calculation errors made her lose confidence, and she also became very slow in her work. We tried a few teachers on Preply, but their teaching methodology didn't suit my daughter. Then we met Shaghayegh, and the difference was visible within just a few classes. My daughter began to regain her confidence and, most importantly, started enjoying mathematics again. It has been a month now since Shaghayegh started teaching her, and my daughter genuinely looks forward to her classes. Shaghayegh teaches in a motivating, patient, and enjoyable manner, which has made learning stress-free and engaging. My daughter herself has clearly said that she wants to continue her classes with Shaghayegh, which speaks volumes about her teaching quality. I would highly recommend her to any parent looking for a supportive and effective math teacher."— Parent of a GCSE student, via Preply
My top recommendation for independent practice. Covers every topic from primary through A Level, adapts to your level, and gives instant feedback. Even 15 minutes a day makes a real difference.
Visit IXLThe book I return to again and again. Lang builds arithmetic, algebra, and geometry from the ground up with absolute clarity. Essential reading before tackling calculus.
The classic guide to mathematical thinking. Teaches you how to approach any problem you have never seen before — a skill no textbook drills directly.
Warm, thorough, and genuinely funny. The most student-friendly companion for A Level and first-year university calculus I have come across.
A mathematician's memoir that reveals the beauty behind abstract maths. Perfect for students who want to feel something about the subject, not just pass an exam.
A gripping story about one of maths' greatest mysteries. Shows that mathematics is full of drama, obsession, and wonder — not just equations on a page.
My own printable worksheet packs and visual study guides — designed specifically for GCSE, A Level, and IB students who want calm, structured practice between sessions.
